I'm currently a second year clinical nutrition student, learning a ridiculous amount with each trimester I get through.
If you're not sure what clinical nutrition is all about, it's heavily based upon supporting your body to bring itself back to homeostasis through nutrition and lifestyle. Sometimes that will be an alteration in your diet and sometimes it might be necessary to bring in supplementation protocols.
The more I learn about the human body at the cellular level, the more amazed I am at all the thousands of things our body is doing on the inside at any given moment. We are truly spectacular!
Understanding exactly what happens to the food we eat and how the vitamins and minerals are extracted from the food, absorbed, and then how they are used by the body is key. The more I learn about food and metabolism the more I fall in love with the whole concept of food as medicine.
My 3 children were a very large part of how I came to be on this path. If you've never read my story before, I'll share a little here...
In 2017 I was struggling BIG TIME with my kids having meltdowns constantly...mainly my middle daughter who was 2 at the time. I'm not talking about your standard toddler tantrums...this was next level. I'd be sitting on the floor crying multiple times a day wondering where the heck I was going wrong. Bed time was horrendous, and sleep was pretty sketchy too.
Then I stumbled upon some ladies teaching about the additives and preservatives in food and as I was getting pretty desparate, I started changing the food I was giving my kids. And what do you know...suddenly it was like my kids were totally different people.
Ever since then I've been on a mission to learn as much as possible about food and all things natural. We fell in love with essential oils and all the amazing things they were doing for our family, and eventually I found my way onto the path of studying.
This degree combines all the things I'm so passionate about, and I can't wait to be able to consult with clients in the near future.
